Broughal Castle Bawn, in County Offaly, in August 1987.
The bawn was in good condition, although there appeared to be a lot of nineteenth century work on it. There was a plaque dated 1845 inscribed Sir Nicholas and Lady Fitzsimonds.
A tower may have been demolished in the 1930s.
We were informed that the castle site was on the right, at the end of the main approach, on a slight rise.
