Cahir Castle, Co. Tipperary,

Cahir Castle, County Tipperary, in August 1986.
The photographs show medieval style timber work in the restored castle.
At the time Aighleann O’ Shaughnessy of Office of Public Works was the architect in charge.
One of the best preserved castles in Ireland with its inner, middle and outer wards, great hall and gate tower.
It was effective as a defensive building until the advent of canon.
A credit to the Office of Public Works who continue to maintain it.
