Strancally Tower, County Waterford, in June 1986.
This nineteenth century folly probably should not appear here, but given the homage it pays to medieval tower houses, I felt it should be allowed to be included. Not to be confused with the old Strancally Castle, also on the same river bank, which was not photographed.
The notice over the door states “Erected by John Kiely Esq 1826”. At the time of our visit it was undergoing restoration.
Flat roof, floors and a stone spiral stairs.
