Lady’s Island, County Wexford, in December 1986.
Note the thatched house that was viewed through the gatehouse, the latter is attached to the tower.
Originally an Augustinian settlement on a tidal island attached to the mainland by a causeway.
At the time of our visit a baulk of timber was still in situ for securing the gatehouse door. There was a murder hole in the arch over the entrance.
An Augustinian settlement accessed by a causeway, the remains include a tower house, bawn, gatehouse and flanking tower.
